Attendees: Mr. Rose, Ms. Sherry, Dotty
Barco, Kristi Barden, Jana Greco, Ellen Healy,
Desiree Iwanicki, Gayle Jordan, Laura Lavan, Vicki
Nizen, Liz Nugent, Birgit Plemons, Rose Raulynaitis,
and many Kindergarten and Third Grade Parents.
Opening
The meeting was called to order at
7:05pm
Unfinished Business
Climbing Wall
Mr. Rose discussed the climbing
wall and described how much the children are enjoying
it. He mentioned that the older classes, who were under
the impression that the wall was going to be too easy
for them, were pleasantly surprised.
Spring Festival Feedback
Dotty expressed her appreciation to
Laura and Kristi for all their efforts in planning the
event. The flow of traffic in the school was improved
during this year’s event by utilizing more of the school
building. Over $4,500 was raised during this three-hour
event.
Standing Rules
A hand-out stating the proposed
Standing Rules was distributed to attendees. Dotty
discussed the listing and its purpose. A motion was
made and approved to implement them.
Committee Reports
Dotty thanked the Nominating
Committee for their diligence in ensuring that a
non-biased election was conducted.
Budget Update
Liz distributed the monthly
budget. She discussed a few items:
- Teacher Reimbursement: Each
teacher has been allotted $125 for school supplies.
Many, but not all, have submitted reimbursement.
Liz reminded the staff to utilize the funds.
- The PTA purchased $2,000 for
books
- The Book Fair earned over
$3,300. All of this money will be put back into the
Media Center. Scholastic Books matched our earnings
allowing us to make over $6,000.
International Fair Update
Dotty mentioned that the event will
be June 2nd from 5pm-8pm. Entertainment will
include:
- Professional Reggae Singer
(who is a also a Vance parent)
- Award winning Tae Kwon Do Team
- Irish Dancers
Approval of Previous Meeting
Minutes: April 10th
A motion was made and approved for
the meeting minutes from our last meeting held on April
10th.

Executive Committee Election
The nominees introduced themselves,
ballots were distributed and a vote was conducted.
Closing
The meeting was closed at 7:30pm.
